Illumination for Stereo Microscopy
Choosing the right illumination is essential with stereo microscopy and is mostly determined by the transparency of the object.
With non transparent objects, an incident or epi-illumination will be used.
An incident illumination can be coaxial or under a certain angle.
With transparent or partial transparent objects, a transmitted or diascopic illumination can be used.
Sometimes, using both incident and transmitted illumination at the same time can give better results in order to reveal some details.
